In 2014 and 2015, CPI One Point invested several million dollars to upgrade our distribution center (DC) in Lewisville, Texas. Our DC is highly automated and scalable. Seventy-five percent of our SKU's reside in a modern "Goods-to-Person" item picking system. This technology increases our team's accuracy because the SKU's are being delivered to the team member picking the order, also increasing picks per hour and reducing physical exertion.
Our customer's orders are picked in our Lewisville DC and delivered overnight by CPI's Motor Carrier Division to our centers (terminals) in Austin, Houston, Memphis, Oklahoma City, San Antonio and Tulsa nightly, giving our valued supply customers overnight delivery. These orders are neatly packaged, labeled and ready to be loaded and delivered by our courteous local route drivers. In addition, with our scale and many highly dedicated manufacturing and wholesale partners, CPI offers service and pricing that cannot be beat.

CPI One Point was founded in 1982, by the Smith and McCormick Families. The founders were Ken "SR" Smith Sr. and Charley McCormick Sr., regrettably Mr. McCormick passed in 1997. Today the company is headed by Ken "JR" Smith Jr. as our Vice Chairman and CEO. JR has been with the company since May of 1984; in addition, JR’s brother, Wayne is the company Treasurer. Today he is building a newer venture. JR and Wayne's mother spent a successful decade in sales with CPI in the early years. Stephen Richman joined our company in 1999, and is our CFO and Vice Chair. In addition, Mr. Richman is a minority owner of CPI. Mr. Ken "SR" Smith Sr. is still our Chairman today.
CPI is headquartered in Lewisville, Texas. Lewisville is a suburb about twelve miles north of Dallas. The majority of CPI is owned by four young ladies, who are cousins and daughters of JR and Wayne. In 1996, David Cain started with CPI as Sales Director. David brought his knowledge in sales management, having held senior positions with two large medical related organizations. With the synergies between David and JR, the company is seeing tremendous growth.
In 2008, David was promoted to President and COO of the CPI Companies, where he remains today. CPI now has centers (terminals) in Austin, Lewisville (Dallas), Houston, Memphis, Oklahoma City and San Antonio, in addition to serving Tulsa. In the markets we serve, CPI has a local sales force and deliveries are made with CPI uniformed team members in company vehicles.
Due to our outstanding team of employees, many of whom have been with the company one to two decades, CPI has positioned a small computer supply company into a powerhouse in the Facility, Foodservice, Office, Safety and Shipping supply markets.
Stocking over 6,000 SKU's and growing, CPI purchases directly through the manufacturers and is not part of a buying group. We have one outstanding wholesale partner (SP Richards, a division of GPC) that carries 35,000 additional SKU’s that round our CPI One Point Supply Division. The 41,000 SKU’s can all be viewed at www.cpiop.com. Our talented team, regional presence, diverse offering, direct manufacturer support, free delivery* and outstanding delivery drivers (who put your order anywhere you direct), helped build us to where we are today.
